Design for Print
Words, Pictures & Sustainability
I plan, write, edit and design printed publications that provide a tangible connection with the people you want to reach – engaging communities, increasing support, raising funds. I also create and source imagery that grabs attention, adds meaning and shows people why your work matters.
If you’re looking for ways to communicate that go beyond the confines of the screen, then please get in touch. I look for design solutions that minimise your impact on the environment, and I specify sustainable materials as standard. I‘ll steer you away from wasteful and polluting production processes. And I work with local printers who demonstrate a commitment to the environment.
Promotional Leaflet: What Can SICSA Do for You?
SICSA supports and promotes informatics and computer science research on behalf of 14 Scottish universities. I designed this image-led, people-focussed, 8-panel leaflet to promote the many different services they offer their members.
Presentation Pack: City Portals Photographic Competition
City Portals was one of a series of annual photographic competitions for schools run by Glasgow City Heritage Trust. This presentation pack, made up of a 12-page booklet and a set of postcards, showcased the 12 prize-winning entries.
Research Report: From the Pub to the Stadium
‘From the Pub to the Stadium’ was a 24-page research report, jointly produced by the Universities of Edinburgh and Glasgow. It provided a snapshot of the issues facing live music venues of all sizes across the UK.
Outreach Posters: Enabling Glasgow
I was commissioned to design this set of eight A1 posters to showcase the work of Glasgow City Heritage Trust. I also wrote the copy. Each poster focussed on a different aspect of the Trust’s remit, including education, community engagement, conservation and restoration.
Promotional Assets: Poster Art of Modern China Exhibition
The Poster art of Modern China exhibition featured 133 original Chinese posters designed between 1913 and 1997. I made use of one of the most striking images in the collection to create posters and other promotional assets for the event.
CD Packaging: The People’s Voice
The People’s Voice featured a selection of music from The Janey Buchan Political Song Collection, as interpreted by contemporary Scottish musicians, including Alasdair Roberts. My packaging design was based around Ryan Mutter’s atmospheric painting.
Events Programme: Gaelic Language & Cultural Events
I designed this 12-page A5 dual-language booklet to promote a programme of Gaelic language events at the University of Glasgow. See more of this project along with other examples of brand application for the University.
