6 Reasons You Shouldn’t Work With Me
1. I Ask a Lot of Questions
I don’t mind my own business – I’ll want to know yours. Why do you do what you do? How do you work? Who do you want to reach? What are you trying to achieve? What makes you special? This process helps me deliver the best results, but I need your active participation to make that happen.
2. You Might Have to Wait
There’s only me here – no-one else. I handle every project personally from start to finish. I’m your first point of contact, your account handler, project manager, creative director, copy writer, designer and artworker. I even send you the invoice when the job’s complete. This guarantees you great quality and service but it does mean you’ll have to think about lead times.
3. I’m Not Built for Speed
I’m a methodical person. I like strategies. I like clear project timelines. I like space to work through different ideas, and time for lots of care and attention to detail. Yes, I can pull out the stops when a regular client needs a helping hand, but that has to be the exception rather than the rule. If you want the best from me, time is the key.
4. I’m Big on the Environment
On the face of it, this may sound like a good thing – and I think it is. It means I specify sustainable materials and production methods, and I use local independent suppliers for things like print. However, it also means that production costs will be slightly higher than you’d get if you shopped around. I think it’s worth it, but then again, it’s your money I’ll be spending…
5. I Have Opinions
OK, buckle up, ’cause I’ve been round the block often enough to know that the customer’s…not…always right. I see my clients as partners, so if I think you’re making a choice that will compromise the results we’re trying to achieve together, I’ll let you know. I’ll do it nicely, of course, and you’ll always have the final say, but for me, honest, open discussion is the best way to sure we work well as a team.
6. I’ll Expect a Lot from You
As I see it, the work I produce represents me every bit as much as it represents my clients. I put a lot into every project, and I’ll expect you to do the same. If you’re looking for a product that simply ticks a box, I’m probably not the designer for you. But if you’re willing to go the extra mile to create something special, then I’ll be with you all the way.
